Kuwait grabs second place in the Men’s Ice Hockey World Cup fourth level

KUWAIT CITY, April 20: The Kuwaiti ice hockey team clinched second place in the Men’s Ice Hockey World Cup for the fourth level. They secured their position by defeating Indonesia with a narrow 8-7 win, relegating the Indonesian team to third place. The tournament saw Mongolia emerge as champions after a dominant performance against Malaysia, resulting in a resounding 14-2 victory.

The intense match between Kuwait and Indonesia, held at the Kuwait Winter Games Club hall, kept spectators on the edge of their seats throughout all three rounds. Both teams showcased exceptional skill and determination, with the lead constantly shifting before the Kuwaiti team, ultimately clinched victory by a single goal, thanks to the outstanding efforts of all their players.

This triumph propelled the team to a total of 6 points in the tournament, overseen by the International Federation of Ice Hockey, with two wins and a loss.

In another fixture, Mongolia claimed the title by defeating Malaysia 14-2, securing a perfect 9-point score, while Malaysia exited the tournament without registering any points.

Fahid Al-Ajmi, the president of the club and chairman of the tournament organizing committee, expressed pride in Kuwait’s hosting of the event, which showcased significant progress in Kuwaiti ice hockey both technically and organizationally. He highlighted the team’s improved international standing, aiming for the championship title in the next tournament, and commended the players for their stellar performance.

Al-Ajmi also extended gratitude to the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Daoud Marafi, for their patronage, which added significant momentum to the tournament. He also acknowledged the support of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and the General Sports Authority, which greatly facilitated the organization of the event, earning praise from the International Federation of Ice Hockey.

Frans Randl, the representative of the International Ice Hockey Federation overseeing the tournament, lauded the Kuwaiti organizing committee for their exemplary organizational efforts. He noted the high level of competition in most matches, reflecting positively on the tournament’s overall standard.
