CeBIT Australia ‘defines’ its future in wake of demise of German event

By

As CeBIT in Hanover re-integrates into its parent event, Hannover Messe, CeBIT Australia says the change gives Australia the opportunity to “define its own dynamic future” and the staging of its Sydney event next year.

CeBIT Australia announced on Thursday that its 2019 event would be staged from 29 to 31 October 2019, a shift from May, and follows on from CeBIT organiser Deutsche Messe announcing this week that the German event would not go ahead next June, with parts of it being integrated into the Hanover Fair.

CeBIT Australia managing director Harvey Stockbridge said CeBIT had emerged from the Hannover Messe event 33 years ago, “and as the impact of digitisation has become ubiquitous across all industry it is only natural that it returns to sit within the leading industrial fair in Germany”.

“The Australian CeBIT has always forged a separate path, we have long observed the changes that are taking place in our market and have been working hard over the past few months to create the foundations for a reimagined CeBIT Australia.

“We sit before a fantastic opportunity – creating something unique for our market, shaping an event platform that delivers real value for everyone impacted by digitisation,” Stockbridge said.

“Our program team have constructed a hundred-strong advisory committee, set across eight industry verticals that are central to the digitisation story in the Asia Pacific region. They are working hard to shape the new event, to create formats that deliver meaningful personal interactions, and opportunities for growth that will enable individuals to drive forward their businesses and personal careers.”

Stockbridge said that over the coming days CeBIT Australia would release “further exciting announcements that will frame the shape of CeBIT Australia in 2019”.

“The event will support, advance, and engage with our market for many years to come. We look forward to continuing to work closely with all of our major supporters, and to bringing together what promises to be the most significant CeBIT Australia to date.”
